Cà Nani Small Boutique Hotel rises from the walls of a historic agricultural building dating back to the 1600s. The current structure, built in the early 1900s atop the original foundation, was one of the first in the village. Together with the church, it formed the heart of the charming hamlet of Casima, located at 600 metres above sea level, at the foot of Monte Generoso.
In 2022, the Guastalla family purchased the building from the historic Travella family, who had lovingly preserved it for generations. Today, Cà Nani represents a meeting point between history and modern elegance, created to offer guests a truly unique experience.
This project was born from a desire to reconnect with nature. In 2018, after living in the Mendrisiotto for 30 years, Giovanni and Sonja discovered Casima and purchased a historic building, restoring it with full respect for local traditions. Living in the Muggio Valley, they noticed the lack of a communal meeting space. Inspired by the Albergo Diffuso Monte Generoso initiative, they decided to create Cà Nani Small Boutique Hotel—a tranquil retreat immersed in nature and local culture.
Bar da Ale is open to all, offering breakfast made with fresh, local, zero-kilometre products, available to both guests and visitors. Later in the day, enjoy our light lunches, elegantly served either in the dining room with its historic fireplace or on the panoramic terrace—the perfect spot for a relaxing and exclusive break.
From 5:00 p.m., the bar becomes an inviting setting for aperitifs, featuring a selection of regional wines from our cellar, alongside classic cocktails, snacks, and coffee. The atmosphere is welcoming and carefully curated, designed to offer moments of pure relaxation and taste.
Located on the ground floor of Cà Nani’s historic building, the restaurant offers seating for 33 guests in an elegant and cosy setting, perfect for enjoying traditional regional dishes. The thoughtful design and central fireplace create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
During the colder months, guests can witness the traditional preparation of polenta over an open flame, served with flavourful local pairings.
The panoramic terrace, overlooking the Muggio Valley, offers a peaceful setting to enjoy local produce immersed in nature.
The restaurant is also available by reservation for private events, with options for customised menus and a hand-picked wine selection from our cellar.
