Monte Generoso railway

Since 1890, the iconic Monte Generoso cogwheel train has carried visitors from the shores of Lake Lugano to the summit of Monte Generoso. The 40-minute panoramic journey passes through forests, alpine meadows, and spectacular scenery before reaching the Fiore di pietra at 1,704 metres above sea level. A unique experience that immerses travellers in nature and offers breathtaking views over the Alps and the Po Valley.
